liquid spill on laptop

Your keyboard is one of the most important parts of your laptop computer. Without your keyboard most day to day computer operations just aren’t possible. Should you find

yourself in the predicament of not being able to use your keyboard there is still hope for the laptop. When you boot up your computer (before you log in) there is a button that opens the Ease of Access Selection. Here you will find an option for an on screen keyboard. That will get you to your desktop screen. After that you can access the on screen keyboard through your start menu/all programs/accessories/ease of access/ on screen keyboard.

Cause & Fixes

  1. Liquid Spills- When you spill a drink on your keyboard the first thing to do is immediately turn off your laptop and remove the battery. This will hopefully prevent any electrical damage or shorting of the motherboardAfter preventing damage to the system, you should weigh the options that are available to you before making any decisions. Consider what would happen if you lost everything on your laptop and how that would effect your life. The advise I would give is to take to a computer pro such as, IQ Computer Services, to save this data and hopefully the laptop.
  2.  Problematic Keys- Whether the keys are worn, missing, or sticking  you can most of the time you can replace it with a new or used keyboard for an affordable cost. These types of repairs don’t take more than a few hours in most cases.  Some keyboards are integrated meaning they are actually part of the system and can’t be easily replaced separately. In these instances replacing the keyboard would be a bit more costly.
