How to Boot Windows 10 Safe Mode<\/h1>\n

If do your troubleshooting, then most likely, you have come across Safe Mode. Safe Mode is a built-in feature that disables programs and drivers during startup. This separates system errors and repairs them without applications interfering.<\/p>\n

3 Ways to Boot into Windows 10 Safe Mode:<\/strong><\/h2>\n

System Configuration<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Use the Cortana search bar to get to System Configuration:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Type either system configuration<\/strong> or msconfig<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Hit enter to open the panel for System Configuration<\/li>\n
  3. Click the “Boot”<\/strong> tab and check Safe Boot<\/strong> box<\/li>\n
  4. Under Safe Boot, there are more options you can choose from. Choose Minimal<\/strong> click Apply<\/strong> then click OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  5. Restart your computer and it will boot into Safe Mode. Be sure to save any active projects or documents before you restart.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Tapping F8<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    You can tap the F8 key to reach Safe Mode. During startup, the Safe Mode selections will come up. This allows you to choose which operating mode to start in. <\/span>However<\/span><\/span>, Windows 10 disables Safe Mode by F8 for a faster boot process. You can turn it back on. Use the Command Prompt to enable F8 menu. This will only cost a few seconds more of boot time. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    To start you need to open Command Prompt elevated. On the\u00a0<\/span>Start menu, Right-click and choose Command Prompt (Admin)<\/strong>. In the User Account Control dialogue, click <\/span>Yes<\/strong> if it pops up. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    You should now see Command Prompt. Enter this command:<\/span><\/p>\n

    Hit Enter.<\/p>\n

    To undo this command, open the Command prompt elevated once again and enter:<\/p>\n

    bcdedit \/set {default} bootmenupolicy standard<\/strong><\/p>\n

    This command returns the startup to the state it was originally in.<\/p>\n

    Advanced Startup<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    This is a useful way to know. Go to the Settings menu, then over to\u00a0<\/span>Update & Security > Recovery > Advanced Startup<\/strong>. Clicking <\/span>Restart Now <\/span>will restart your computer in recovery mode. Doing this will bring you to three options: <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

      Troubleshoot<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n

      Continue<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      Turn off your PC<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options<\/strong><\/span>. You will now get several more options. Click Startup Settings then Restart. Your computer now will restart. You will see the Startup Settings screen when rebooting. This is where you choose the function required.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

      Shortcut<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Go to the start menu and click on the power icon. Hold down the <\/span>Shift key<\/strong> and hit\u00a0<\/span>Restart<\/strong>. This reboot option brings you <\/span>directly<\/span><\/span> to Recovery\u00a0options. This is where you can choose\u00a0<\/span>Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings<\/strong>. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

      Windows 10 Safe Mode from USB\/DVD Boot<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Use a USB flash drive or a DVD installation disc with Windows 10. When the screen pops up, choose the<\/span>\u00a0repair option > troubleshooting >\u00a0advanced options<\/strong><\/span>. Then you will want to change the startup options. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
