  Windows 7 password reset disk is a must have tool should you ever lose or forget your Windows password. When you first get your computer and make the user accounts, it is great practice to create a password reset disk just in case you run into this problem. The alternative would be completely reinstalling your operating system. Which is not a fun option for most people who can not afford to erase important data on their computer systems.  A password reset disk is not complicated to create or use. You have two choices in which media type you can choose to use including a floppy disk or USB flash drive. Insert the floppy disk or USB flash drive you want to save the password reset disk to.

Create A Password Reset Disk

How To Create A Password Reset Disk:

  1. Click Start
  2. Type “User” in the search bar
  3. Select User accounts
  4. In the left panel click Create a password reset disk
  5. Click Next
  6. Now select which media you chose to use in the drop menu (Floppy Disk or USB)
  7. Click Next
  8. Type your current password
  9. Click Next
  10. Wait a moment for the Password Reset Disk to be created
  11. Click Next
  12. Click Finish

How To Use A Password Reset Disk:

  1. First you should be on the login screen
  2. Insert the media device
  3. Leave the password box blank and hit enter
  4. You will get a message saying “User name or password is incorrect” click ok
  5. Under the password box you will see a hint and under that click Reset Password
  6. Click Next
  7. From the drop menu select the media containing the password reset disk
  8. select Next
  9. Type a new password and then reenter it for confirmation
  10. Type a new password hint
  11. Click next
  12. Click finish
  13. Now type in the password you just created and press enter

You should now be logged on to your desktop. The password reset disk has worked and also updated itself so it will still work if you forget the new password you created. So again put it in a place where it will be safe and remembered.
